We have specially selected twenty of the hottest traditional jazz and swing musicians with a mix of young, exciting new performers and a galaxy of legendary stars who have performed and recorded with some of the original American pioneers of jazz, including Wild Bill Davison, Art Hodes, Red Allen, Cap’n John Handy, Billy Butterfield and such British legends as Ken Colyer, Humphrey Lyttelton, Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, Chris Barber etc.
From Ragtime, Classic Jazz, New Orleans Revival, Swing, Dixieland and the American Songbook - there will be something for everybody.

10:30 Blame it on the Blues - Bechet Tribute - Trevor Whiting, John Wurr, Martin Litton, Keith Donald, John Petters. In 1997, to mark the Bechet centenary, Trevor Whiting and John Wurr arranged a recording of Bechet classics, which sold out! Here is a special chance to hear these arrangements live!
12:30 Ken Colyer 30th Anniversary - Allen Beechey, Mike Pointon, John Wurr, Tim Phillips, Heather Birt, John Petters. Ken Colyer was a key part of the traditional jazz revival in the 50s. He had a unique approach. Thirty years after his death, some of his former sidemen recall his music in this wonderful and affectionate tribute.
14:30 Lester Young & the Kansas City Sessions - John Wurr, Andy Dickens, Jim Douglas, Heather Birt, Tim Phillips, John Petters. The small independent record label, Commodore,assembled a remarkable small group from the Count Basie Band, featuring the incredible Lester Young, on both clarient and tenor sax. This line-up will recapture the feel of this wonderful ensemble.
19:30: The amazing young violin wizard, Ben Holder, will lead a special quartet for a no holds barred tour-de-force. This exciting set comprises ex Alex Welsh guitarist, Jim Douglas, Heather Birt, Bass & John Petters, drums.
21:45: Pete Allen's Festival Jazz Band - Andy Dickens, Martin Litton, Keith Donald, Tim Phillips. An outstanding line-up led by the internatioanlly acclaimed clarinettist, Pete Allen. This session of steaming hot traditional jazz will be a fitting conclusion to your special weekend of jazz
