“Julian has a very rare talent….. I'm a big fan !” Sir Michael Parkinson.
“Julian is an immense talent! Probably the best clarinettist to emerge in British jazz for several decades. His playing has ‘world class’ written all over it.” – Sir John Dankworth
“Stringle’s clarinet sound is exquisite; it has freshness, sparkle and a flute-like softness. At times he makes the clarinet sound re-invented. This breathtaking young clarinettist offers a future for the instrument in the jazz front line” – John Fordham – The Guardian
“Julian is an outstanding talent. His playing, singing and composing are all equally impressive. His music, youth and good looks could attract a whole new young audience to jazz” – Legendary American clarinettist Bob Wilber
“Julian is a breathtaking clarinet player with faultless technique, inate harmonic judgement, and his own distinctive melifluous sound . He is a consummate artist, whose life has been dedicated to his craft. Today, his place among the ranks of the all- time great clarinettists is assured. – Digby Fairweather” – musician, broadcaster & writer.
Nothing really needs to be added to these accolades by some of the most celebrated critics and musicians.
Julian has been a regular and popular visitor to the ARC and this concert will highlight his talents as both reed player and vocalist.
Piano professor, Martin Litton, another regular celebrated guest, will punctuate the concert with some tasty classic piano solos whilst the rhythm team of Keith Donald and John Petters will provide the foundation for an exceptionally exciting afternoon of jazz classics. Expect a musical range from Ragtime to the Swing Era with a fair selection of American Songbook evergreens.
Dance or listen, this is going to be an afternoon of music not to be missed.
